My school is doing a play based on the movie. Are most plays a re-anctment of the ENTIRE movie?

No, so many things have to be changed in order to accommodate the limitations of the stage. Look at the differences between Grease on stage and the movie. Is your school doing High School Musical? There are plenty of differences there too, It's mainly to make it more feasible to produce on stage since they obviously can't go to so many different locations. A lot of times characters may be different too, so if I were you I'd do my homework and look up a synopsis online of the stage version, not the film. Check out the link below.

Good luck!

No. It's quite rare that you'll find an adaption. The only one I can think of right now is 'A Matter Of Life And Death'. Most plays are written to be performed on a stage, and movies written to be performed on screen. When you're on a stage, you have completely different aims and space/props etc to work with so it's actually quite challenging to do an effective adaption.

most movies are re-enactments of plays. the only way a play differs is that it has more limitations than a film - you can't do huge scene changes on stage like you can on screen.

no it varies from play to play but generally things like battles, car chases and anthing else too complex to show on stage is referred to in the dialogue as having happened off stage somewhere and not actually shown
