I have about 300 1990's romance books. They are all in very good shape. I tried selling them at a garage sale for 5 cents a piece and no buyers which floored me. i tried taking them to the local book trader and she wouldn't take them - even when i said i would just donate them. The library wouldn't accept the donation. Even the womans shelter wouldn't take them. They are much too good to throw away. What else can I do?

A GATHERING OF GHOSTS

Why is it so easy to create a ghost?

To push a button, trip a switch, speak a word,
point a finger, accuse others, cast a stone,
enact a law, pull a trigger, ignite flames?

The results remain the same.

Why is it so quickly we bury a ghost?

To ignore life’s lessons and deny the past,
stifle scruples, justify guilt, revoke doubt,
shrouding righteousness in a deity’s name?

The results remain the same.

Why is it so hard then to ignore a ghost?

To subdue a conscience and silence the cries,
purge memories, build barriers, deflect faults,
without ever accepting personal blame?

The results remain the same.

Why is it much wiser to live with the ghosts?

To understand, acknowledge human error,
coming to terms, making amends, righting wrongs,
opening up and reaching forth without pain?

The results will keep us sane.

(It's new. It needs editing. It's inspired by my new muse.)

I believe in ghosts, but if you don't I will read and give thought to EVERYONE'S answers. I also don't take an opinion on aliens, as I can't prove it either way and there are too many pros and cons to form an honest opinion for me. Do you believe in angels? Do you believe in demons? Do you believe in fairies? (yeah, I know I'm going to take slack for that one--I don't know if I do or not. I lose my stuff ALL THE TIME! Probably just disorganized. : ) ) Anyway, what do you believe in, and what do you not?

What does it mean?
We met at a shahndaffer down in the park.
It was on a Friday—the usual do.
His luds shown like grimulets in the near dark,
Which, as I recall, should have been my first clue.
He asked me to binch to the downdiddy dash
Then stribbled so cool with that gonquistry strup
That I couldn't resist. So I gathered my fash
And we binched and we bonched til the vundus rolled up.
Oh, he was so phistick and I so phramphyte;
The meuglen so perfect—one strom of a mence.
And not til we binched near a nerfuren light
Did I notice his yeng had a strange decompence.
And not only that, but his schluff was so sparse.
How it scongled and flumped in such wild gyration!
It was then the reality of this grand farce
Made my bonkies light up in cold strandification.
Well, I backed right off then, and I threw him a plawk
That would ruftin your fawver and whisten your fonk.
But it just made him gonquer! He strupped his begawk
And headed right for me, a-hoot and a-honk.
"Well, that's it," I thought as I gimpered my gear.
"I'll just have to do what ma told me to do."
She said to lamdogget, then grounch in his ear,
And last flamish him. So I did. Wouldn't you?

For those who have read all of the books, start to finish... how did you like the series? Are you happy with the way that they ended? What would you have done to change anything if you could?

On pages196-197, at the bottom where it begins to talk about Mark Miller, why does it say that he is David's guitar instructor...when Paul is the one playing guitar? Maybe I am just stupid, but reply back and tell me what you think. Thanks

A concrete example: would you rather be in a setting where you can speak a language very well so that others clearly understand you (but you have difficulty understanding them), or would you rather be in a setting where you understand everyone else very well (but have great difficulty speaking to them)? This question is for fun, and any interesting answers.

I’ve been this way as long as I can remember
Scared, confused, and lost forever
Drowning in the many tears I cried
I want to fall asleep, and never wake up…
I want to die

The many times I tried to tell you
You never, ever listened, mom
For those words that I let escape my mouth
Were shoved right down my throat
As if they did not matter…

And Dad, I feel so far from you now
For you have them, my siblings…
As far as me, I doubt you care
The only time I exist, is when I screw things up
You love them more then me, Dad…it’s not fair

I’ve been this way as long as I can remember
Scared, confused, and lost forever
Drowning in the many tears I cried
I want to fall asleep, and never wake up…
I want to die

Everything that hurts me the most mom…
You say it’s just an excuse
Go ahead and ground me mom
I’ve tried to tell you how I feel
It’s too late to talk anyway…

You may have never hit me Dad
You never left a mark…
But you hurt me more than ever
Cuts, scrapes, and bruises heal,
But emotional scars are forever

I’m gone now, gone forever
And I hope you’re happy
That’s all I ever wanted was to please you
The ground is my home now, a dark cold wonderland…
I am Dead
