Since you like Shakespeare have you read King Lear? It's my favorite. Also anything by Ray Bradbury, especially Fahrenheit 451, it's similar to 1984. Also, Nathaniel Hawthorne is good, especially the Scarlet Letter, for some reason that book always reminds me of the Crucible. Also, his book the Blithedale Romance was good. I don't remember all the specifics of the book because I read it a long time ago, but I remember I liked it. Finally, Mark Twain is great.

ANYTHING by Barbara Kingsolver, my 2 favorites are "The Poisonwood Bible" and "The Bean Trees," both are very funny and very sad in some places but always intresting, it was hard to put either of them down!

I noticed a lack of Ernest Hemingway on your list! The first Hemingway novel I ever read was "For Whom the Bells Toll" and I read it when I was not much older than you are now. I read it in a day and I've been a Hemingway fan ever since. His short stories are incredible and I think you might really like them. There's a book called, "The Snows of Kilimanjaro and Other Stories" I have read that one over and over. Mine is falling apart! "The Old Man in the Sea" is a good one to read if you feel like you need to have a good cry, it's a beautiful, sad story.

No one has ever written like Hemingway and no one ever will. Shakespeare envies him even now. When God wants to read a good book, He reaches for Hemingway and so should you! LOL

I agree with the first person. ANYTHING by Franzen. David Foster Wallace, "Infinite Jest". And everything written by Hunter S. Thompson. Martin Amis, "Money"- hilarious. Anything by David Sedaris. He's screamingly funny. "Me Talk Pretty One Day" is excellent. Also, Augusten Burroughs, "Running With Scissors" and "Dry" and Donna Tartt's "The Secret History" and "The Little Friend" (my favorite) I sell books for a living, and I could list many more....

Animal Farm is a great book. I read it when I was a freshman in high school. It's written like a fictional story about animals on a farm who get rid of their abusive farmer, but it's actually a symbol of things like communism and how good ideas can turn out bad. It's written by George Orwell.
