War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

"Well, Prince, so Genoa and Lucca are now just family estates of the Buonapartes. But I warn you, if you don't tell me that this means war, if you still try to defend the infamies and horrors perpetrated by that Antichrist- I really believe he is Antichrist- I will have nothing more to do with you and you are no longer my friend, no longer my 'faithful slave,' as you call yourself! But how do you do? I see I have frightened you- sit down and tell me all the news."

It was in July, 1805, and the speaker was the well-known Anna Pavlovna Scherer, maid of honor and favorite of the Empress Marya Fedorovna. With these words she greeted Prince Vasili Kuragin, a man of high rank and importance, who was the first to arrive at her reception. Anna Pavlovna had had a cough for some days. She was, as she said, suffering from la grippe; grippe being then a new word in St. Petersburg, used only by the elite.

Which is the best for a beginner? Are they all good cameras? Which would you say are the 3/4 best on the list that are better for a beginner, however wont need to be replaced for 2/3 years to come?

Background to my Q is this:

It happens alot here. The answerers, I have generically described try to reformulate the Q's by asking Q's that defocus the central idea in the Q. This Q is based on my having asked over 1070 Q's in two years. Is this good Q&A? Is this the kind of Q&A helpful. I would really prefer to limit my Q to Q-askers w/many Q's under their belt(hunter's metaphor), but I will consider well-formed insightful thoughts by intelligent pt-driven answerers. This Q matters to me bec I would like to see Philosophy Q&A improve here & be nontrivial & less distorted than it is. That is my motive ,so no one need speculate about that element which is irrelevant to answering my Q! IMO The Q-asker should never be the subject of the A to the Q .The ideas in the Q are fair game(another hunter's metaphor), but comments re the Q-asker, motives, defects, etc are ad hominem fallacies. Ad hominem attacks are considered, from a logial POV irrelevant & evidence of immature thoughts.

It's about two kids- one rich and the other poor. I'm not sure about their ages. Anyway, i think the poor one is shocked that the rich kid befriended him/her.

I've got Paint Shop Pro 9, I've got a brand new Wacom Intuos3 and I grew up drawing comics so I've got all the ingredients needed to make a good drawing/graphic...

My problem is that when I'm drawing my normal charactors on the digital screen, they seem pixelated instead of a smooth "pen like" appearance.

I'm trying to get that smooth natural pen like look (without having to use other programs like Corel Painter 10 or Photoshop)... so are there any other digital artists like me who know how to achieve this look? Thanks a million for your input!

My settings are: (Round) Size:2 Hardness: 100 Step:1 Density & Thickness: 100 (Paint Shop Pro 9)

I have a set of 4 intricate Chinese paper cuts. They are each in their own protective covers (cardboard back, tissue paper cover) and all four are kept together in their original packaging. They must tell a story, but I don't know which order they should be in or what the story is. I have pictures of them if anyone is interested. I don't want to sell them, but would love to know as much about them as possible.

Any help wouldbe much appreciated!

To cut a long story short, i've wanted to get into acting for several years now, but for reasons I don't really want to go into 'cause it'll take too long, I haven't been able to...

With my studies going on this year, and then I leave school to get a job or whatever I want to do, I don't feel as though there is enough time to get into a drama class as most school's only accept up to 18 years old. And I can't get into drama school as I don't have the relevant experience to go with the academic capabilities I have. Also, for the last few years my confidence has taken a complete knocking and i'd love to get this back and portray everything through acting. It's what I want to do, I know it, i'd love to be on stage etc., but I feel it's too late... it's there any websites with guidance for new actors who have no previous experience?

Also with my part-time job I can't go to the evening class I wanted to go to and I can't afford to give up my job =(

Thanks

My history teacher has commented on this a few times, and from any pictures in my history book of Stalin, he seems to have his left hand either out of the picture, disreetly hidden or in his pocket. Is it true that his left hand was shrivelled or whithered?

I try to redraw art on a picture using the pen tool on a separate layer (new layer). After draw with the pen tool I sometime want to make the line or part of the line lighter so it would blend in with the original line. I try using the dode tool but it seem to never work even if I set the exposure rate to a 100 it seem to never make a different. I try other tool such as the burn and blur tool to see if it work on the layer and it work fine so I was wondering why doesn't the dodge tool work. Can someone please help me out.
