This may be the worst question to be ever asked, and i'm sorry.
But for example when i see a tab, it does not to play all strings,

like this for example:

--2--
--3--
--4--
--5--
--6--
------

Does it mean i can play the last e string as an open note?

Please advise thumb placement when playing guitar.

What point on your thumb do you put on the guitar neck.

do you rest the fatty part of your thumb in center of neck?

Or do you have a slight bend in small nuckel.

There is practically no info on this on the web.

Bands at college football games all play this classical piece. I know I've heard it, but I can't remember what it is. For some reason, I'm thinking it might be by Walter Piston, but it's just a guess. You have to know something about music to be able to get it from this description:

The meter is either in 5 (5/4 or maybe 5/8) or it may alternate between one bar of 3/4 and one bar of 2/4.

The piece is very rhythmic, and is in a minor key. The tonic scale degree (la) is played in unison (octaves) in a regularly repeating rhythmic ostinato. Assuming that the meter alternates between 3/4 and 2/4, this rhythmic pattern is played as follows:

| tri-pa-let 2 3 | 1 and 2 | tri-pa-let 2 3 | 1 and 2 |

There is an underlying bass melody in which each note of the melody is sounded on beat one of each measure and held until beat one of the next measure. the melody is as follows (assume la is the tonic):

|(3/4) la |(2/4) mi | (3/4) ri |(2/4) te |(3/4) la |

What is it?

It really p*sses me off. We do a lot more than other sports, and it's not as easy as it looks. When I first joined this year, I thought, how hard could it be. It's difficult as hell and to learn the drills and music and to do them at the same time WHILE hitting your spots is not like taking a walk in the park.

I've heard that it's not a sport because it does not require a physical form. So? Bands are so put down and rejected but most times, the best activity in school. We are constantly active and have more practices than our sucky football team.

Grrrr. How do you feel about marching bands. Serious answers only.

I now play the trombone in my high school band, however, the instrument I first began playing was the flute. I ended up selling my flute to pay for a new trombone. I would like to buy a flute but I am not sure what brand to get. I know that King makes excellent trombones and I have found some flutes made by King but I wasn't sure if they are as high quality as their trombones.

I admit, I am talented. Random strangers come up to me and tell me how good I am. I can act and draw and write. I let random people read my stories. And they love them. I do skits with my friends on the sidewalk and people tell me how good I am at acting. I draw and people tell me how good I am. I am only 13 and I want my talents to be useful! I want to let my talents shine! Any ideas to help me out? Thanks in advance!!! =D

I'm only 21 years old

My passion for music has been since I was born. Mainly old school salsa, bolero , Cuban son , my Idol being Hector Lavoe. So I was thinking for a long time about becoming ( or atleast try the struggle ) a musician for a living..

I'm studying IT at college , it's not something I like , but my parents told me , get a Degree to fall back on , you can always make music but it's not certain you will make a comfortable living with it.

I dont know what to do. When I watch old video's of live musicians it makes me emotional . It's not that I HAVE to reach a certain point ( for example fame ) to be content with my music.

Although I would love to make a living as a musician , it's good to stay ..... "realistic". But it's also important for me to make a comfortable living , the nice house , cars ...

I dont what do do and I'm depressed.

PS : Today's music makes me sick. Those so called "singers" / musicians couldn't sing live to save their life

How can I explain the usage of E#, B#, Cb, and Fb? I think that they actually do exist (yes they are the same as F, C, B and E naturals) but my parents say that those note names such as E# are necessary in some instances, but not used all the time. In some ways I think that they are right by saying that they are just necessary at certain times like with keys with 6+ sharps or flats and also with such chords that require them, like the A augmented chord (A-C#-E#). Are they right or do you think they don't exist?
