I need some suggestions! So far we have Mary did you know, O Holy Night, and In the Bleak Midwinder. I have more of a "folk" type of voice....and would like a unique song if possible....

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I saw a performance of the Messiah last year at Benroya Hall in Seattle. I figure that not everyone in the orchestra and choir was Christian. Are there any non-Christians here who have performed it? What do you think of it? Simply a great piece of music? Since everything the choir sings is straight from the Bible, as a singer, do you think about what you're singing? Do you think it's dumb? Do you laugh inside as you sing? I remember sitting in the audience following the program, and I was just revelling in the verses. But I believe this stuff. What say you? (I'm not looking to start a fight. I'm asking honest questions, here.)

I've decided to learn a second instrument and have settled on a string instrument. I love both the violin and the cello, but can't decide which one. The cello is my bigger favorite, since I love the sound it produces. Now I've played flute for over 8 years, so I don't know if that musical knowledge will effect my learning either instrument. What are the pros and cons of the violin and cello? Preferences?

The piano at my church is very sharp in it's playing. Hopefully I'm being clear on this... it's in tune, but "piercing" - I'm fairly certain there is a way to work with the hammers to round out or soften the tone, but what exactly is done?

Thanks.

The fact is, I enjoy both equally, I have no preference. I'm told I have a great baritone/bass voice, especially for a high-schooler, but am also a proficient acoustic/jazz guitarist. I know whichever I choose to get serious about will get me some relative success, so I want input. Which would you, as the public, prefer to see a young adult break out into: Jazz guitar or theater?

Some of the keys on my flute have recently been making noises, like it is sticking to the metal. The padding sometimes sticks to the metal hole and sometimes takes too long to come up. Does anyone know how or why this happens and how to fix it?

I hear that it's easier to learn on an electric rather than acoustic guitar? Need an informed answer so I can buy either one as a Christmas gift for my son, thanks. :-)
