I play the flute. I was assigned the instrument for band class and I cant change it. I first had trouble with making a sound on the flute but now I can do that. My problem is that I cannot remember the fingerings for all of the notes (E G B D F, F A C E, and the flats) It takes me a while to figure out where I put my fingers and when the class is playing together. (We are practicing to play AT OUR GRADUATION) Its always me getting in trouble for hitting the wrong notes. I hate when this happens because the teacher makes the whole class start over and over until we get it right. The other kids get aggravated so I asked the teacher to take my flute home to practice. What are the fingerings for the notes (be very specific which buttons because im confused on some whether you put your pinky down or not) and how can I master them?

I'm trying out for all districts this year, and I have no clue what the Scales are called! I don't have to transpose at districts and the rules state that they won't be called out as "concert" scales and If they were to say play your G Scale you would play your G Scale...What is the G scale on the clarinet and how can I figure out what they are all called? I've looked EVERYWHERE and I just can't find the answer! Please Help me!

I've recently downloaded a Chopin etude and I found numbers in small font above some of the notes, I think it's fingering suggestions but I'm not sure so can anyone help me with that?

I am singing two arias and my throat gets really dry - they are both huge arias and a dry throat will kill my top notes.
Do you think it'll be frowned upon if I take a sip of water after the first aria

I'm kind of curious about this because it seems that most British singers don't sound any different that someone from the US. And for that matter, this seems to be the case for almost anyone who sings in English - whether their from the American south, French Canadian, or some other place. The exception being country music.

Hey I was wondering what a good acoustic guitar would be as a gift for my girlfriend, she has played for about a year but not often and wants to play more. My friends say Takamine Epiphone. The people at guitar center showed me this one Takamine I believe the model number is GS330S, but I am open to comparisons. Thanks guys!!!

1- Is there a particular method you would suggest starting with? As far as reading a beginner's book or watching a dvd on the subject...or maybe watching those lessons people give on YouTube.

2- Should I start with a pick or just finger strumming or whatever you'd call it?

3- Is there a popular website you go to that has chords to alot of songs (a free site).

4- And my last question, I hope I can type this in a way that makes sense...

When I play a G, I have a finger on the top string, 2nd string, and bottom two strings I think it is, well, in that case, I obviously strum all the strings on the guitar. But what about a chord that I only hold the bottom two strings or something? Would I only strum the bottom two strings for that chord? Or still strum them all?
Does that make any sense?....

THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

I just want to learn all I need to know. How to tune it, The strings/frets, the basics. I have figured I'd watch the clips of how to play guitar on Comcast On Demand. Is that any good? Plus,
If I practiced an hour a day, progressing normally...How long would it take me to learn?
{Like..How..err..Lemme think. Like how good Joe Trohman plays. From Fall Out Boy.}

I just bought my first fiddle and I'm very excited to start learning, but I still have to go buy an instruction book to learn how to play it. Can anyone tell me how to get started at least, so I can at least make some sound from it? Also, what do you do with the rosin? I know, I have a lot to learn, that's what I'm hoping to do. I've looked on the internet and found a lot of great instruction sites, but none on getting started with the basics. Any help you could give me would be great! Thanks!

Don't worry about skill level, just give me some songs.
I have a wide range in taste too, so don't worry about that either.

Its been hitting me like a wave lately... I want to express my thoughts and feeling on society, government, but Ive never been a sort of Bob Dylan Conor Oberst type of person. I like to write and I play guitar and am a songwriter, but most of my songs are about lonely days and personal trials... but I feel I really need to give my imput to the world.

I've been playing guitar for six years now and I am 13 yrs old, almost 14. I'm really young so I figured that would be kind of a cool spin to what I'm asking about...I want to be famous or at least get myself out there, but I don't know what to do! I don't have a band and I can sing but don't like to in front of people. But...

I have a really good ear and pick up on songs easily
My best song is For the Love of God by Steve Vai (I don't like that kind of music but it can be fun to play. I would love to be a Jack Johnson or Dashboard Confessional with mebeing the main person but with a band behind me)

What should I do? There aren't guitar contests or anything (thats why athletes, etc. have an advantage) and I can't get "gigs" if I'm 13 and don't have a band. Being famous is a stretch, but how can I start?

I love music and I do not have experience in music as far as work goes. I was told that since I appreciate all kinds of music, I would be good at being a music critic.

The only thing is, I am in my senior year at University of Redlands-School of Business. I have very little training in music and I can't play an instrument (at least, not yet).

I have a few classes in music- fundamentals of music and appreciation of music (Jazz, Classical, Rock etc).

Does a music critic need to have good writing skills or is it more verbal communication skills?

1) How do you read tabs?

2) how do you play chords where the frets are maybe 2 frets apart and your fingers are 2 short?

3) How do you make that "no-sound" sound where you can't hear only strings being hit like in the beginning of "smells like teen spirit" or "Stadium Arcadium"?

I've been playing the flute for 7 years now and I plan on majoring in music performance in college. As a summer job that would give me opportunities to perform in public, I thought I'd apply to some of the fancier restaurants in my town and ask if they would like a musician. Before I do that, though, I'll need a variety of different works. I thought I'd use some pop music, classical favorites, modern pieces, and genres like that to perform.

I was thinking about Carnivale di Venezia (Carnival of Venice) by Briccialdi/Delorenzo, Syrinx by Debussy, Three Preludes for Unaccompanied Flute by Muczynski, Suite in A Minor by Telemann, and some songs from James Galway's CDs "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and "The Very Best of James Galway." I plan to learn those by ear.

Two questions: Is this enough? I don't really think it is, so if not, what else might be good choices? Preferably, they would have no piano accompaniment, because I won't have one, unless I can find someone.

Thanks!

I have to perform a play tommorow at school and I have too sing at the end (on my own).
We went into groups and then each kid in the group had to write a scene out and as part of my part i have to sing.
I really don't want too, i've talked to the rest of the group but they don't seem too care.
I don't want to go to school tommorow, my confidence is already rock-bottom without having to have the whole class laughing at me.
Im 13 by the way.
HELP!!
