It just doesn't seem to stay in the hole anymore. It's an electric guitar & it fell out when I was restringing. Am I going to have to take it to a professional or is there something I can do to solve the problem from home?

Ok,. Silly question. Do you have all the bits? There should be the post that the string is wrapped round, a gear wheel that it connects to and the bit that you turn. The gear wheel is mounted on top of the bit you turn and screwed in pace. The whole assembly is held on to the guitar by means of a couple of screws through hles in some sort of cover plate. Check that all these are present. It sounds like you have something missing. Hope this helps.
