I have to perform a play tommorow at school and I have too sing at the end (on my own).
We went into groups and then each kid in the group had to write a scene out and as part of my part i have to sing.
I really don't want too, i've talked to the rest of the group but they don't seem too care.
I don't want to go to school tommorow, my confidence is already rock-bottom without having to have the whole class laughing at me.
Im 13 by the way.
HELP!!

Well, I guess there's two sides to this. To start with, it's very unfair that they didn't listen and they shouldn't have put you in a situation that you're not comfortable with. You shouldn't have to do anything you don't want to do, and if you really think nothing good will come of it, it's okay if you choose not to do it.
However, I think you probably think it'll be much worse than it actually will. The worst part about things like this are the fear, and once you actually do them, you realise it wasn't so bad after all. How is your singing? Do you really think the class will laugh or is that just your low confidence talking? I doubt that will happen. You may get one or two little troublemakers finding it funny, but I think that if you go out there with confidence and give it your best, the class will see this and think it was very brave.
If you take the day off ill, this is an easy way out, but in the end it may lead to even more problems. You'll be letting down your group and they might hold a grudge against you for this, which probably won't help your confidence situation.
In the end, it's entirely up to you, no one can force you to do anything you don't want to do. However, my recommendation is that you practice as much as you can tonight until you're happy with it, go in tomorrow in a good mood and feeling confident, and face this head on. Because I assure you, your fears are worse than the reality. And once you have taken this on, so what it may not blow them away, but I'm sure it will earn you respect and you'll feel proud that you faced your fear.

I used to suffer from severe stage fright, but once you've done it, you often feel so happy with yourself that you could do it again and again. It'll probably BOOST your confidence if anything. Go on, show them what you're made of! Believe that you can, cause I certainly do!

Let us know how it goes! :)

Tomorrow you're going to play a little game. You are Christina Aguilera. You are a singing sensation. You sing like you were Christina and let your audience really have it. You're not a little 13 yo. You're a singing star. Come out, sing loudly and confidently and close the show to a standing ovation.

You wouldn't be singing in this play if you have no talent. Practice, and then pretend that you aren't who you are--you are someone great.

Just for that few minutes--you're Celine. Don't let your thoughts stray from that idea. You're Celine, performing at Circ de Soliel in Vegas. Imagine that and keep your mind focused on that. They'd never laugh at Celine.

Honey, believe it or not, this is a necessary part of your education. EVERYONE has to learn to speak/sing/perform before a group of people. Yes, it hurts if they laugh, but you must be brave. You are Celine.

Well, you have to do it. Your group is counting on you to show up and do your part, otherwise the entire group's performance will suffer. You promised you would be there. You CAN'T let them down.

Besides, what makes you think that the whole class will laugh at you? Keep in mind that EVERY other kid in your group, and in your class, is just as nervous about performing in front of the class as you are. They're NOT going to laugh at you -- they're too busy worrying about screwing up their own performance and getting laughed at themselves. Believe me, they're going to be rooting for you to do well just as they hope to do well themselves.

As for your self-confidence -- PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. You already know you're probably going to be nervous so practice your song so thoroughly that you could sing it in your sleep if you had to. If you know you're as thoroughly prepared as you can be, you will be more confident. Then just go out there and DO it! :)

Explain to your teacher why you don't want to do it, maybe they will have someone else sing instead.
But If you have to sing then hold your head high and go for it, you may be a better singer than you think and then your confidence will grow. If you back away from it, it will do nothing for your confidence.

They wouldn't make you sing if you can't very well, so nobody will laugh. Just suck it up and go for it
