Your finger or a dime will work, but try folding up a dollar bill into as small a square as possible and you'll see that the corner works quite well as a pick. But since you're a musician you might not have a dollar bill, so a dime will have to do.

Take out whatever card you have on your wallet (id, credential, credit, etc.) just make sure it can get a little scratched. Coins are too hard. Cards is what all guitar players use in this cases (including me and my friends).

Been playing professionally over 30 yrs. Never use a pick. I always use my fingers, and I use the backside of the fingernail when I want that "picked" sound.
Good news is that you never lose them (if you're lucky).

One of the plastic bread clips that do up the wonderbread bags, and have the expiration date on them, double as a pick very well.

your finger nails. or cut one out of a piece of those vinyl 3 ring binders. or use a lid from a plastic bottle. dimes make an interesting sound, too.

this happened to me before, i used a piece of a old set of miniblinds. it worked well intill i could go out and get some more.

drivers license, credit card...any type of pliable plastic til you can get more picks.....I had to use a credit card one night on a gig......it works....not as well but, does ok in an emergency.....good luck
