I have been playing my violin quite frequently, lately, and I've made sure to clean my violin strings after each time, and put my instrument up. When I took it out to play today, my bow has spots which will not produce a sound. I've tried amply applying rosin, but it still won't work. Is it possible I've unknowingly gotten something on my bow? And if so, is there any way I can fix it?

im planning to go to a music college for guitar. porblem is dunno which one. i live in the philippines now and im going to the states next year for college. i wanna play mostly rock/metal so maybe you could recommend me some colleges that specialize in those genres. and lastly, i probably going to live in NYC, so it would really help if the schools youll give me are just nere that area.

thanks in advance!!!!

If you get a single cd player, can you still scratch? Because I read somewhere that you need two turntables to scratch, just wondering if this is the same for CD players like http://www.guitarcenter.com/Stanton-C-314-Single-CD---MP3-Player-103723904-i1166642.gc

I'm a beginner and have been playing for 4 months. I am in my school band, and I just started getting private lessons. However, the brand of my flute is not well-known at all (manufactured by a friend of my mother). Is this okay? Will it be okay once I become more advanced?

P.S. I got this flute as a gift from my mom's friend long before I started playing, so I didn't have a chance to pick the brand.

My band program is allowing us to switch instruments. I have a clarinet and have been playing since August, and in that time I have become QUITE good. Before I even started playing, the band director said I had a good mouth for clarinet. But I might be switching. Maybe to oboe because of the scholarship options. But then I heard my friend complaining (she plays oboe) about the limited note range. Should I switch? If so, to what? I have gotten used to the clarinet fingerings. so would that be a problem? Can someone give me a list of woodwind instruments and their pros and cons?

Since the composer Maurice Ravel passed away in 1937, the next year (2008) his music should fall in the public domain (the standard rule of copyrights is that a work falls in the public domain after 70 years from the author's death), but it's unclear if Maurice Ravel's works have some sort of tie with other copyright holders... anyone can help me to find this out?

Thanks in advance.

I am getting a guitar for Christmas this year and I am really excited. I am 20 and have always been interested in playing but could never afford the instrument.

I know for sure my parents are getting me an acoustic guitar this year. I was wondering if anyone knows how long it will take me to learn how to play the guitar? Will I be able to learn it on my own or will i definitely need lessons?

In theatre class I'm doing the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene. We will be using a set of stairs that leads to a platform for our balcony.

Is there a site with the "modern" English of this scene?

Ideas for where I should be in the begginning when Juliet is talking about Romeo on the balcony?

Also tips on stage kissing for a guy? It's my first time kissing or stage kissing anyone. Ideas for when during the scene and where on stage I should stage kiss?

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
