You'll be happy to know that many US university programs offer a guitar major, and it's generally thought that the student should learn jazz and rock styles as well as classical.

The most famous music schools are Julliard which is in New York City, and Berklee, in Boston. Those are very competitive schools in terms of admissions, so unless you are fabulous you might not get admitted; in that case, there are many universities that have excellent guitar programs; two I'm aware of are University of Cincinnati college-conservatory of music (in Ohio) and University of Miami (in Florida).

All of those faculties are extremely good (in no particular order): Juilliard Eastman college of Michigan Indiana college Oberlin college of Cincinnati San Fransisco Conservatory Northwestern Univerity Cleveland Institute of song Florida State college Rice college New England Conservatory Curtis Institute of song Ithaca ny college of song Mannes you incredibly could circulate and take a lesson everywhere and notice in case you will detect a instructor who's an outstanding extra healthful for you. this is extra substantial than the acceptance of the college. a remarkable instructor can take you lots extra than an hassle-free acceptance. Take this from an Eastman grad.
