Has anyone on Yahoo Q & A seen that U-Tube video Zorba the Greek Yolngu Style??? It is an Australian Aboriginal dance group's interpretation of Zorba the Greek and I think it is very funny. I urge answerers to watch it and tell me if that guy in the middle has talent or what??? There are two videos on them but watch the first one. His family have a link with the Greek community in the Northern Territory and decided to do this Zorba's Dance. What do you all think????

Is there any point of me learning how to play the violin? I've wanted to for about a year now and at the moment I haven't got anything particular to do to keep myself busy, well for the next 8 months I haven't becuase i dropped out of college. However, I am planning to go back to college next year in September, but for the meanwhile I need to focus on something and was thinking why not learn how to play the violin, but is it too late?

I used to play the clarinet, alto clarinet, bass clarinet, and contra bass clarinet. I quit for awhile and had a family. Now I am looking at getting back into playing. I prefer to play the bass clarinet or the contra. Just looking for some recommendations as to what professional bass or contra bass clarinet I should buy.

How do I get better at improvising solos on guitar? I know the pentatonic scale inside and out. I know all the different forms of them across the fret board. I am lightning quick running up and down the scale. I only know about 3 licks but I've mastered them.

My solos always sound the same because I use the same licks and I just go up and down the scale. I also always tend to stay in the same key also, which makes it quite lame.

How can I spice up my solos? I have a fender G-dec amp and it can play bass and drum lines while you freestyle. I just want to be able to practice some good soloing techniques.

i'm starting to learn how to play guitar...i'm teaching myself. I already know how to read music because i've been in band before...but the problem I have is with the fingerings. I have a chart that shows you cords with the notes and TABS...I can read them fine...but the problem is I don't know what finger to put where. Is there a specific finger that prosides over a certain string...or do you just finger in a way that is most comfortable to you? Thanks!

I've only been playing since last summer, and I need new strings. I have a First Act acoustic (it has the dreadnot shape) and I play/practice about 2-3 times a week for about 30-90mins. Which brand of strings are the best (if it helps, I play with medium Fender picks)? Also, my aunt is getting me a starter electric guitar kit (we missed the Christmas stock). Which guitar is better to start with, a Fender Strat or Epiphone (it's shaped kind of like a strat... but I think it's called a SG or something)? I was going to go with another First Act, but I heard their electric guitars suck (although their acoustics suprisingly sound great!).

"A triad is a chord that has 3 different notes and are built by stacking thirds."

I don't understand this concept. Can an experienced guitar person explain this to me in laymen's terms?

I have played acoustic guitar for about two years. I'm only an average player but I can play a good number of songs perfectly such as Stairway to Heaven, Sunshine of Your Love, etc.

But I am very interested in buying an electric guitar. The only thing though is that I have no knowledge about electric guitars, I don't know what to look for in a guitar and tell which one is a good buy.

But this Christmas my parents bought me a Squire Fender Strat Pack with an amp and everything.

I was excited and all until I started playing, it sounded weird, the whammy bar was almost impossible to use; you have use a lot of force to move it. The input jack jiggles as if it was going to fall off.

But my biggest concern was that it was probably a beginners guitar.

I'm not sure if I should be using a beginners guitar or I should be using one that is meant for intermediate players? Plus what are things should I look for in a guitar if I buy another one? Are there any brands you would recommend?

I've heard the oboe is very hard to switch to from the clarinet because of the difference in embrouchre and fingerings, but i really like the sound (when played well) but I'm not sure since I don't have time to take private lessons and people have told me it's really hard to switch without a private teacher. And plus I don't want solos in my high school band class since I would be the only oboe.
Bass clarinet I heard is easier to switch to but it gets mostly the boring parts in songs, and I don't really like the sound.
My band teacher suggested alto clarinet but I don't even know what it sounds like or anything. I was just wondering what this was.
Another thing: I looked around my local music stores and asked if I could rent an oboe and every store has said that the (one or two) oboes they had were already rented.
How do I find one to rent if I decide to do the oboe?
(oh, and the reason why is that i've gotten bored of the clarinet.. unfortunately.)

I'm 15 years old and I want to learn how to play the guitar, and I'm planning on taking lessons. Is it too late to start learning? What are the basics of learning guitar? What kind of guitar do I buy when starting? I've played piano for the last 5 years but I quit because I've lost interest and I didn't practice. However, I been listening to alot of guitar pieces and I'm really interested. Is guitar, like piano for me, one of those instruments that gets boring after a while?
