How much for a decent one?

Fender is by far the most popular electric guitar. Gibson sounds very good, but then again. The phrase "you get what you pay for" doesn't always apply. Squire by fender is a cheap guitar that sounds very good.

It really depends on what kind of music you are into. I am partial to Gibson Les Paul. Some prefer the Fender Strat. Some prefer Ibanez.
