i bought a guitar off ebay yesterday, and its delivering over to me. i just recently started getting interested in learning guitar. i wanna learn soooooo darn much, but i just kno NOTHING about it. i dont kno what a chord is, and all the other stuff. im just scared that i wasted money on somthing i cant even learn..can anyone teach me the basics?

There are many books that come with cd's for beginners. Check out amazon.com. but if you cant wait that long go to www.youtube.com and type in beginners guitar lessons... you will lots of hits. May I suggest a REAL teacher just to get you started on the right path? Call you local music store and see if lessons are available?? Have fun!

At first things are going to be hard because your fingers are not use to stretching and you don't have caluses on your fingertips that will keep them from getting sore. It will come if you keep practicing.
Get a basic guitar book or go online so you can learn some basic guitar formations and start strumming.
Some easy chords to learn at first would open chords G, C, D, E, A, Am, Em, F
Also powerchords and barchords are very important to learn. I love bar chords because I play reggae so they come in handy.
You'd be surprised but there are many songs that are just three chords like G, C, D.

Your fingers will HURT A LOT when you play with metal strings
Chords are three notes or more different notes played at the same time, but in a certain arrangment.
There are major and minor chords
