Many people can read. But how about the people who actually do buy & read books? What kind of books they prefer? Is it men who read more? Is it young people who read more? & what are the most popular topics people read about? Do you know of any statistics made about them in English speaking countries?

I don't think we can rule out the possibility that our whole idea of creation is incorrect. I'm not saying there's no higher power since there has to be one somewhere, somehow. Before you go off giving me a lecture on religion, just open up your mind and be honest.

not the skin of us, not what we wear, what we look like, but what we think, and if thats the case, then does that mean we really die, because our thoughts are always passed through generation to generation, small or big, like albert einstein, yes we might never see him again physically, but his thoughts have helped push man kind, and they are still around today, so is it our thoughts that really are what we are? our energy?

I am much younger than he, though not young, and he is way over sixty. We have two children, both adults and married.
He was constantly after women, all his life. I pretended not to notice, so that my children would have had a decent family life.
Now he keeps a young woman in her early twenties, Valérie Marneffe.
He rented her a large house and even servants. She has rich clothing, and all her heart desires. She gives open dinners almost daily, and invites up to fifteen people to them.
He promotes the husband of this woman, too, because he works in his department.
My husband ruined himself for that woman. The sums he spends on her are enormous. He is in debt, and twice our son had to bail him out, so he is in debt now, too. I take work home, and it's not enough. We sold everything, and all the money went to her. We asked him, all our family to stop his infatuation, and he would not!
What should I do?

I've been designing custom greeting cards for a while now to sell and need a new site to get them printed from. I don't want to upload a single picture then just customize borders and text, etc., I want to be able to upload a .jpg that is a completly original design. I'm fairly computer savy so I don't need a user friendly or walk-through type site. I want good quality and the ablity to print small amount of greeting cards-- anywhere from 10 to 50 cards at a time (that being the hardest part as most sites have a minimum of 1,000 cards). I've used overnightprints.com before but while their post cards are wonderful, their greeting cards seem flimsy.

I'd love to hear recommendations and any past experiences you've had.

Ok, she's friends with people that are mean and rude to me and downright idiotic. Now i'm not saying she can't be friends with people that she want to be friends with..i mean i really don't care...but when its people that really have issues and are mean to me..why would she want to be their friend?...I mean if it were the other way around i wouldn't be their friend either.

Just Opinions please and no bashing. Thanx!

Dead or Alive , anyone you choose.(what do you think the party would go like)
Either for pleasure.
Liesure.
For an argument.
For the company.
My four would be My Brother and father (both deceased) and Plato and Aristotle (a grand mix for discussion of all).
or
Anthony Hopkins,Steven Fry,Dawn French, and Joyce Grenville(for the coversation and humourous intelligence)
But mostly for the "crack"

I have six daughters and I want - well, not to get them off my hands, but a husband or two wouldn't be amiss among a lot of them.
Then, this rich man, Mr Penricarde moved to the area and fell in love with my Jessie! He proposed to her, and everything went well, and they discussed wedding and honeymoon plans, but we didn't know that Toby sold him our horse, Brogue! Brogue is road-shy, and he swivels every time he sees... well, anything that moves. We tried to get rid of this horse for years, and now we sold it to my daughter fiance, and Toby told him that the horse was just right for the beginners, quiet as a lamb (he didn't know about the proposal then).
What should we do now? Nobody can ride this animal with any safety, only Toby, because he swivels with the horse in time. We can't admit that we palmed him off with a useless horse, he can break up with Jessie, and we can't allow him to ride it!

I'm only 21 years old

My passion for music has been since I was born. Mainly old school salsa, bolero , Cuban son , my Idol being Hector Lavoe. So I was thinking for a long time about becoming ( or atleast try the struggle ) a musician for a living..

I'm studying IT at college , it's not something I like , but my parents told me , get a Degree to fall back on , you can always make music but it's not certain you will make a comfortable living with it.

I dont know what to do. When I watch old video's of live musicians it makes me emotional . It's not that I HAVE to reach a certain point ( for example fame ) to be content with my music.

Although I would love to make a living as a musician , it's good to stay ..... "realistic". But it's also important for me to make a comfortable living , the nice house , cars ...

I dont what do do and I'm depressed.

PS : Today's music makes me sick. Those so called "singers" / musicians couldn't sing live to save their life

Can someone correct me if there's anything wrong. please and thank you (:

Who were involved in this pact? :
Germany and russia were involved in this pact.

What were the terms of the agreement? :
the terms of the agreemant is that the two countries agreed not to attack each other, either independently or in conjunction with other powers ; not to support any third power that might attack the other party to the pact ; to remain in consultation with each other upon questions touching their common interests ; not to join any group of powers directly or indirectly threatening one of the two parties ; to solve all differences between the two by negotiation or arbitration. Do they accept you to work for them/produce a particular piece of work according to how high your degree is or whether you have it at all. Or do they rather like to see your previous creations? What if you have studied on your own from books and everything possible, but you don't have a diploma, but you are talented enough and know how to handle a given task to create something? Have you got chances? Are they as good as a qualified person has or does it all depend on where you are applying?

Everything and anything is very important for me!!! Thank you for reading.

First of all, I didn't see a section just on literature or writing in general, so I hope this is not in the wrong forum.

I am writing a novel. It has been a slow process, mainly because I keep coming up with different story lines and I can't choose between them. I was just wondering if there are some general rules of thumb on how to select. Is there a kind of "Occam's Razor" for authors? Some axiomatic standard? I'm sure I'm not the first person to run into this problem.
