A good way to do this may be to disguise it. Disguise it as another book - or maybe not a book, but a different object. You could also hid the book inside books on your shelf (assuming you have one). Maybe you can find a way to attach the diary temporarily to the under of the your desk - so you can take it on and off. Maybe hid it inside the pocket of a clothing or inside a few under wears so she won't see it!!
Hope this helps!

Mums tend to do that! Can you write in code or in a foreign language? Or put a note in it saying, "Hi, Mum! Don't you know not to violate others' privacy?" A lock probably won't help, because the locks on such books are pretty easy to break. However, an office supply dealer might have a security bag with a lock--the sort of thing money is carried to the bank in. As for a hiding place, it's hard to think of any place in your room where a determined mother wouldn't think to look, but what about keeping it in your back pack and carrying it with you all the time?

Cover it with a sheet of paper, write a title on it, like Bible, or the title of any book. Your mom won't suspect it's your diary, she'll just think it's another book.
Or, you could keep it somewhere where she would never look, in your underwear drawer, with your shoes, under some toys (if you have any), or you could tape it to the back of a portrait and hang it up. No one would suspect.

I belong to a gym. If you have an kind of access to lockers that you could rent, use one and store your journal there along with your sneakers.
Sorry, I know it's silly!
Otherwise, I would carry it with me in a tote bag with my things so my mother couldn't have access to it when I wasn't around.
I'm sorry your mother is invading your journal.

My friend dug a hole in a thick hardback book (by cutting a rectangle in the pages inside) so she can put secret stuff in there and no one would suspect. You could try doing that, but make sure you actually don't need that book anymore!

Use livejournal.com instead, choose an obscure name and lock every entry.
If you're determined to keep it on paper, maybe buy a long bike chain and wrap it round both ways then padlock it? She should take that hint.

What I do, is put it in a place that no one suspects. I hide it under my clothes in my drawers. If you think that someone is reading it, then change the spot you put it in frequently.

Put it in a water-proof box/bag and bury it outside like a dog buries a bone.
Of course this is for desperate measures.
