Not a question, but I have been getting error 999 (anyone else is experiencing this?) and I was not able to insert this link, which I just uploaded, to show Karen.

Earlier I was trying to tell her that the subject in her folio was standing in the sunlight, and she either should use a fill-in flash, or better yet, take the photos on a cloudy day like this one.

Canon 5D. Canon 100 mm Macro f 2.8 at ISO 600 at f 3.5 at 1/125 shutter speed. RAW format converted.

Thank you.

We have mentioned favorite all time cameras. I have had those big potato mashers like a Braun (with a ...was it 620 volt battery?) and the Metz is in the closet somewhere, but the Vivitar 283's were my favorites. Reasonably priced, reliable (except for the occasional foot) and easy to use. Boy do I wish Vivitar made an equivelent today for digital...and as econmical.

I, like so many people, am getting sick of the selective coloring and sharpening questions. So, to make everyone's life easier, I made these. What do you think? Should I add anything?

Selective Coloring (using photoshop, since that is the only program I use):

with the new year coming, many people will be using the flash on their digital cameras, and some will have over exposed faces from the bright flash and close proximity of the flash. What are some ways to prevent this. Thanks.

I've just started to collect photographs and I am trying to stay with well known artists. This image is by a known artist but it is not very strong.

Does the price seem low? (Of course, the auction isn't over)

I would like to protect my pics taken on my camera. Is a watermark the same as a copywrite? Got some great ideas for pics that I would like to offer to sell. Other similar ques reviewed in "Answers" didn't quite leave me with confidence that the watermark cannot be removed by using some "program"? And what about using photoshop to simply overwrite or erase the watermark. Has anyone out there sold pics and know what I'm talking about. Any help would be great!!! Have a SAFE New Year!!!

I take photo's at high school basketball games. obviously the indoor lighting is insufficient, so i turn the ISO up really high and i usually have the shutter speed around 200 or 225. What else can i do to make my photo's look bright like these....

I was just looking at my D50 and noticed it has 9991 shutter reflexes. This might be stupid, but I was thinking about making the 10,000th image...special. Is that creepy? I dont really care, but what do you think the 10,000th image should be of. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I was once asked by a friend who had a band to photograph them. There were four people in the band and one of them was black. I got my exposure set to what I thought would be right and took a number of colour shots of them.

By the way, this was in the days of film!

When I got the film developed, everything was fine apart from the black member of the band. There was no structure to his face. he just came out literally black.

I managed to get some detail back when I digitalised the photographs a couple of years later, but it would have been preferable to have a decent image on the negative to start with.

I suppose you're going to advise me to slightly overexpose to compensate but are there any other tricks I should know?

Also in black and white photography are you recommended to use a different filter for black people. I know green or yellow green is good for bringing detail out in light skinned people. Would a red filter be good for dark skinned people?

... but now I'm back with more pics that i'd like your opinion on.

(I think the ones on the other question are better, but I need opinions on all my photography, not just the better ones.)

I like to experiment with angles, so often I don't pay attention as much to the focusing... the focusing is off in a LOT of my pics.

I don't like these as much but....

do you look into the profile or review other questions and responses by a particular responder to get an indication of their experience or qualification? Or do you just pick an answer because it was what you wanted to hear in the first place?

Olympus E-410
Canon 350D
Canon XTi / Canon 400D
Nikon D40
Sony A100

Which is the best for a beginner? Are they all good cameras? Which would you say are the 3/4 best on the list that are better for a beginner, however wont need to be replaced for 2/3 years to come?

Thanks A lot!

Also, where can you find good cheap camera? Is second hand still good? Can i trust a website ?
