The second crop is a visually arresting portrait of two lions.

The first crop isn't bad, but is much more an everyday, less inspiring shot.

It's not even a question.

Crop 2 is the best to me. the first one has allot of boring area to the left of the picture. Crop 2 has the subject and back ground the other lion there to. With out allot of waisted picture.
but both are very good pictures.

Crop 2. Beautiful portrait. I love how Mrs. Lion is back there in the shadows looking very first ladyish.

I have to agree with Perki88. The CROP 2 is much, much better. It's really quite amazing.

well crop 1, i like this one better because you get the whole picture. also i like the light that falls on his legs.. and also his surrounding.. =0

crop 2. it looks very staged with control lighting.. i spent little time at looking at this crop that the first one

anyhow.. cropping is a matter of taste...

My opinion that for optium weight balance in this composition, is crop 1 suits best. Crop 2 looks unproffessional and as though you did not take the shot. If you did, it's incredible!

Crop two has more impact and eliminates distraction.

In crop one the main subject is too dead center, therefore stagnant. Were you judged in a competition, this would be pointed out.

the first one looks better in my opinion, its less in-your-face and more aestetically pleasing. I dont think anything needs to be changed.
