Ok, I've been REALLY looking at cameras lately, I'm interested in taking pictures. My cam is an old kodak I received from my grandma 4 years ago. Well with Christmas coming up it's time for me to upgrade!! My mom said after Christmas (during the sale) she will take me out and get me a new camera! So I'm just checking out what other people have to say about their cameras before we go out and buy one.

Or any type of lights in a night setting. I just got back from a neat Christmas display, and unfortunately, my pictures are pure crap!!! I'm also going to Times Square on New Year's Eve, which will be a lot of lights in a night setting, and I DO NOT want to make the same mistake twice!!! I took them with a digital camera of high quality, but not a DSLR ( The exact model is Canon G9). Professional or amateur advice welcome! Thank you!

HI ,

I am looking for video tutorials about photography , mainly DSLR, I 've tried Youtube , but not very successful, not to my liking. Can anyone recommend other sites where they offer free viewing of
video's for beginner and intermediate DSLR enthusiasts?

Thank you

I'm wondering what will be in the box when I buy this - like what comes with it.?? Is this camera good for everyday pictures? Are the memory cards (xD-picture card) any good? Do the xD's hold more than the SD card?

Is this camera a point and shoot, or a DSLR?

Everytime i take a photo, for example, at a speed of 1/1000, the images become really dark, even in light areas. Is this normal? and can it be fixed? I tried increasing the ISO speeds, increasing the apeture thing.. and yeah.. it wont be fixed.

I visited a relative last year who showed me photos of my Mum, Dad, Brother and myself, taken some 50 years ago. In fact there would be dozens of shots.
These are images that I don't have, and not likely to ever see again.
They are of no use to this adopted person, however his wife gets a lot of pleasure from retaining these and making sure that close relatives don't get them. She has mentioned this to me, which I found distasteful to say the least.
One story which was related to me by the adopted relatives wife, was that a photo of one of my aunts' late husband who was killed during the first world war. This is a portrait of my uncle in army uniform, and is spectacular to say the least. The request by my 93 year old aunt was turned down out of spite by this women that I mentioned, who did not even know the soldier.
Is this mean spirited, or just me being sensitive to the images of another, being in the wrong hands.

By adequate lighting, I meant outdoor conditions for example. The answer is probably not. However, I was thinking that if the ISO was higher, they could obtain a faster shutter speed to maybe get a different image effect. But I've always thought lower ISOs meant better quality and less noise in images....thanks.

I'm going to a snowboard competition tomorrow and I'm wondering how fast of a shutterspeed I should use to freeze snowboarders in mid air jumping? I'll be shooting with a Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 lens on a Canon 400D. I need sharp photos because I sell them as stock.

Should I shoot with my aperture wide open at 2.8? Any other suggestions to help me get good results will be appreciated.

Wanted your opinions - is this a good picture to use as a christmas card? I really loved the way it came out, I think it looks really good. Do you think it would make a good Christmas card to send to our friends?

Getting to the point where there are too many myspace'ers asking how to make animated gifs and enhance their page with other seemingly "cool" images, and what not.

Where's the talk of SLR's / Lenses / Apertures / Shutter speeds / White balances / ISO's gone!
