In my earlier years as a journalistic photographer, I photographed a football play where the receiver got hit just as he was catching the ball. The image showed the effect of the impact and the receiver's determination to hold on.

On a second occasion, I was assigned to photograph the meaning of "Valentines day" and took an image of a small child showing his handmade valentine to his mother. I was lucky enough to catch the moment she saw the card for the very first time...her expression and his at that split second were priceless.

I guess it was one of these: http://www.e-photobooks.com/cartier-bresson/decisive-moment.html

I just posted a few from the WayBack Machine that might qualify...

The print has broken down, but I still like this one. I wish I knew what the photog's name was. He was a regular for the Inquirer. http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/1084564932/in/set-72157601316534420/

A favorite of my wife: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/2131647859/

I still look at this as if it was someone else's work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/2132424588/

I love HCB's work! Especially with people, I always try to get that "moment" when the expression is right, or when all the elements line up. Some of my favorites are of my daughter, like when she walked for the first time. Her expression was just pure joy. Or a few years later, when she first learned to ride a bike without training wheels. Same thing!

In terms of art, the photo on my home page is one of my faves for the right moment when everything seemed to come together to tell a story:

This question made me review my work and I have decided that my work isn't very "decisive". I think my New Years Resolution will be to attempt to be more decisive. I normally plan out my shots more.
