im studying philosophy and i have to read about 20 A4 pages on how to define the word "art". it just seems pretty pointless. art is a huge part of my life (in its various forms), but how are we going to progress by defining what it is?
all input welcome!

I'm in urgent need of help regarding a college project for photography.

I need A description of the film development process including: time, temperature, chemical mixing, drying, cutting and storing.
(step by step process would be good)

and

A description of the printing process. How long is the photopaper in the developer for? Why is the paper washed between developer and fixer? How long is the photopaper fixed for? How long is the photopaper washed for after the process and why?

- I have tried researching on the internet, and I'm not getting anywhere fast! =(

thank you for your time. your help will be greatly appreciated!

I have been told before that I am often too descriptive, which over-complicates my work. I'd be grateful if you could read over the opening paragraph of my new story and tell me if this is the case here. As a bit of background it is set within the last couple of years- the narrator is also the protagonist, and without giving too much away I want an unsettling, brooding tone from the outset...so here goes:

'The woods stretched out in to the grim half-light of dawn like a living ocean, white mist collected in the troughs of the tree-top waves and seeping through the troglodyte world of the undergrowth with searching, icy fingers.

The most distant edge of the forested horizon was little more than a colourless outline, swallowed up by an advancing deluge that looked all the more hostile from the warm light of my room,'

Any thoughts welcome. Thank you very much.

I was actually just on msn.. and I wanted to change my name to describe how I feel about the magical little life inside me for the past month (im 7 weeks) That instinctive love and how amazing it is.

Has anyone got any or know any quotes about the love of an unborn, or just the miracle of pregnancy?
Known quotes or just something short an sweet you make up?

Though I consider myself a writer, I find it hard to put into words :):)

This is a parody of the parody of the poem "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The parody is To A Vase by Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Cat (by Henry Beard)

This is the original one:
"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways"
by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

I remember learning about a law that ended manifest destiny and "swore" that America was done trying to expand. Anyone remember what it was called and when it was passed? Thanks so much.

Greenland: Future Beach Paradise

That’s right,
get in now
get in on the ground floor
of this amazing real estate opportunity

Be there when
Jack Frost fumbles his grip
and the Arctic sheds ice

While St. Nickolas is busy removing
his jacket, cap, gloves
be busy burying your toes in newly uncovered sand

While other people are fighting malnutrition and vector-disease
you’ll have the beach tan that say’s “I told you so.”

20 -30 - even 100 acre lots are available for-ice cubes on the glacier
Act now
Don’t be a grumpy polar bear with no place to go

Philosophers like Sartre use human freedom as the fundamental basis for their ideas. But how do we know that it even exists? How do we know that actions are not merely the results of causes? Furthermore, how do they deal with developments in cognitive science that question the existence of a Self that is in full control of one's thoughts and actions?

Do we exist only to destroy? Or do people live to create? Both of these questions seem to be different, but both aren't really questions that can be answered by us. Who would we ask and how could we research this?

If we live to create then why do we destroy? If we exist only to destroy then why are born? I believe there is balance in everything, but for some reason I don't see it here. Perhaps we exist only to consume and disperse matter. Is life the opposite of matter or is it the energy that animates it?
