Well, in philosophy, there is supposedly no consideration for life after death. So, therefore, some people look to religion that says Jesus Christ has triumphed over death. According to Christianity, Jesus Christ is now alive for ever more. That is why there are some that persist in "Hope" - the hope that Jesus offers us.

To attempt to offer a purely philosophical and non-religious answer to this question - I must say and note that (aside from faith, hope and love) we do not seem to know where we were before we were born, nor do we know where we go when we die. In both of these directions, we seem to be at a loss to actually prove what we may learn or come to believe from other sources, like faith and religion. Therefore, it seems just as simple to discard thoughts of fear and fate and choose hope, faith and love instead.

I seem to be able to accept these positive thoughts, this philosophy about life - does this make any sense to you?

In layman's terms, "accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on, to the affirmative, don't mess with Mr. in between". :)

P.S. sometimes, shopping does help, but I am thinking you have to be shopping for Jesus!!!!!!

Who says I persist in hope?
I think life is about persisting WITH hope.
Until death.

Why?

Because you might as well hope for a happy life whilst you are alive and live it. Hope for good thing.

Better to die with hope than die hopelessly.

Who wants to spend (what) 80+ years (average life span?) being sodding miserable and full of woe-is-me?

Often in life its your attitude that determines out come. If you spent your whole life being a misery guts you'd have no friends as no one would want to be around you. You would drag everyone into a bleak mood. Why be all fatalistic, doom and gloom?

Yes we all die, but is that not even MORE of a reason to look for hope? To aim to live well. To seek happiness. Inner peace. Equilibrium. Make the most of it.

Life lasts a heck of a long time before Death comes so people have to live life to the fullest and be as happy as possible during the time they have on earth. And its very hard to be happy if you lose all hope.

The life path has many branches with short cuts and detours. Also it is covered in haze so we can not see the inevitable. Some of us choose the longest detour in hope to avoid the end, and enjoy the life in progress.
Can´t see the forrest because of the trees.

Its not with hope that I live my life, I live it for the sake of living. If this is the only consciousness where given and death is the end, then why not make the most of it before then?

sorry, don't get that question?!

yes, death will be the ultimate end of life - but why should I give up hope meanwhile? there are so many other things to hope for during the long years of life.

shopping? helps sometimes - but prices can be rather driving...

Yes, shopping can help. Good luck. Oh, if you are worried about death, that might mean it is imminent, so don't make a long shopping list - if you know what I mean.

Cheers!

It is because we're still living and while were living we don't have any choice but to Hope.
Shopping will help to divert your thoughts about certain death.
