this painting is of an autom wood land with a river running through it, my grandma bought it at an art show here in Albuquerque N.M. In the late 70's early 80's I think if i remember correctly. My mother said it was bought at a "starving artist show" .

Harland Young (American, 1924) is a California artist that specializes in the old west. Here are a number of his works as well as prices for comparable value for original oil paintings. I would contact one of the fine auction houses for further information and/or verification. I hope this helps...good luck to you!

You can look on the internet for his name followed by a forward slash and then the word "artist", I suspect that he is either a calfifornia artist or a new engkland artist, you did not say where your grandmother lived or give a description of the painting. If you like you may e-mail me a photo of the piece to theoregonartist@yahoo.com and I might be able to tell you more about it. I recall a few artists named "young" and the first name "harlan" can be attributed to a tinpan alley artist but I cant recall if his last name was "young". you can contact a guy in Austin,Texas at Austin Galleries, 512 459-9363, if thats not the number, call 512 information and ask for the number. then ask to speak to George Attal (pronounced ah-tell)...George knows alot about American artists from back in the pre depression days to now, if he cant tell you, then he might be able to direct your search. hope this has been helpful.
