Did you get permission from Simon Cowell? He owns the rights to the name American Idol. Contact his office before you get sued.

American Idol is owned and copyrighted by Simon Cowell, you can't just use the name American idol on your homecoming float.

You need to contact American Idol for permission.

Why does this have to be about a TV show? An American Idol can be anyone. You could use a historical figure or a local military person (a play on the theme, American Idol) But if you want to follow the TV show, make a small stage at the back of the float and have a person with a microphone. At the front of the stage have a table with 3 people sitting at it (like the judges) otherwise do everything in red, white and blue good luck

if you are going to follow the advice about the permission, simon fuller is the producer, not simon cowell.
but what would look really cool is if you made the float look kind of like the stage. you could make a mini one of those column things that say american idol on the top. and on the sides of the float you could cut out the silouettes of people cheering and glue them on the float so it looks like they are the audience looking up at the stage.
