A Redbird Christmas by Fannie Flagg. Its a good book with all kinds of emotional stuff going. I would think that with a name like Fannie Flagg it would be an American author, but I won't swear to that. It is a short read and once you get out of the first chapter a very simple read.

Well one book that I recently read was Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. It is long by page number but I read it in like 3 days. But it isn't an American author. Another is Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd Which is by an American Author. It is a really good book.

Read something by Mark Twain. His books are never very hard the Prince and the Pauper is good, as is A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. If you're going for short though you might try Puddin'head Wilson it's less than 100 pages I think and is very good and isn't too complicated.
