You need to step out of your own persona and step into Hermia. It's Hermia kissing him, not you. I'm guessing this guy is playing Lysander? Hermia loves him. You don't love the guy, Hermia loves Lysander. When you step on stage you are Hermia and that's that. When you are off stage you don't have to like him one bit. Cordial would be nice of course at least until the show is over, but love and like? Not totally necessary :-) The guy will not take it seriously especially if you set him straight after the show should he happen to say or do anything that makes you think he wants to keep the Hermia/Lysander thing going. I've known plenty of leading men who think they can charm their leading ladies into a post or during the show romance... no need for you to follow that trend. You can just tell him you were in character for that and it was nice working with him, but the show's over so let's be friends, ok? Or if he's trying to get something going during the show, tell him you're not interested in anything except making sure the show is a success so let's save it for the stage. No need to be afraid of thid guy. You are the female, you have the sexual power here. Trust me.
:-p break a leg!

You are not kissing him. Your character is kissing his character and feels whatever your character would feel while kissing his character. Then the curtain comes down and you go back to being you and he goes back to being himself. What happens on stage stays on stage. You should neither be excited to kiss him nor scared to do so because you aren't going to kiss him; your character will kiss his and that's that. Nothing can go wrong if both of you are in character. If necessary, speak to him before or after and tell him that it was a stage kiss. Some guys need to have it beaten into their skulls. Work out your other issues with him offstage. It's not easy and even professionals make the mistake of taking on-screen chemistry to be love but that's an occupational hazard that, unfortunately, is not covered by medical insurance.

What does your director expect out of you? Usually if there's a stage kiss, the director will tell you how he/she would like it performed. Its more than likely that they don't expect you to touch lips anyhow. If you are indeed supposed to then i would just have some sort of conversation with this guy and maybe work in something about how different YOU are from your character- make sure he knows the difference for sure. Good luck!

When you have practices look kind of reluctant to kiss him. If he loves you he will avoid making you uncomfortable. If this doesnt work ask him when you are alone if you could fake kiss. He probably wont say NO because he would sound like an idiot.

when the "kiss" happens you could tell him to turn away from the audience when he "kisses" you and he could actually kiss you on the cheek but since he loves you.......tell him if he tries to make a move you'll kick him in the balls lol

a stage kiss is not a real kiss unless you instructor tells you to kiss for real........
it is just an angle that you turn your head to make it appear that you are kissing to the audience, but you are not.

Tell him how you feel that you are not interested. If you cant do it, get a friend to do it for you.
