Life does not have a meaning, it has a nature.
Which is:
To collect energy, reproduce & defend itself.
To have a meaning or purpose, a thing must be created to the intent of a task. E.g. a plow has a purpose. A random bolder does not.
For life to have a meaning, it must be created to the intent of a task. So asking the MEANING of life is pretty much the same as asking "Why did God make Life?" And given the general sense of God as Omnipotent, the answer to that question usually comes out as: "To Amuse"

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The meaning of life. If humans knew the meaning of life, they wouldn't need to live. The whole point is to find out for yourself. See what you can dig up. And when you've reached the end of your shift, pass the shovel on to your children and say "Keep on diggin' till you find the treasure."
The meaning of life, to me, is to give life, and never break its cycle until a true meaning is finally found.

What Gobuk said is interisting: "As soon as we were born, we were dying. We werent able to live unless there is someone else there to help us. Maybe we were put here to help others and everything else that lives in this world."
You're right. We were born dead...in sin. We do need help, and we can't recieve that help from anyone but God. In Adam we all fell, but through Christ we are saved. We can't 'pull ourselves up by our own boot-straps' because we're dead, and dead people can't even respond! But if the holy spirit gives us faith, and through Christ, who lived a perfect life in place of our polluted one, we are saved.
The meaning of life therefore is to glorify God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and to enjoy Him forever!

Life is a journey with only one chance to live. it's an opportunity to grow, in all aspects of life and become a person reflecting God's image to other people.
it's an opportunity to learn, relearn and unlearn things. it's about learning from mistakes of our own experience and that of others. since life is too short to have all the mistakes committed.
Life too is like a song. a medley to play and master and revive at some time...to make some difference...:)

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are
true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God,
to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator,
and to fulfill those responsibilities.
In His infinite goodness, God could not keep all to Himself the happiness of existence He enjoyed in heaven. Just as we may love our pets very much, cats and dogs are just not able to share with us the happiness we feel from music and sunsets and Super Bowls. Only our children can do that. This is why God had to create us as His true children. But complete free will is the essence of His nature. So we, His true children, also had to have complete free will, only without the infinite power and wisdom. That makes things difficult. That makes it possible and even likely for us to refuse to accept God's authority.
this is what i think, hope that it helps you,,, take care and a very good question.......:))))))))))))))))))

Whatever you'd like it to be, I guess. I mean, what would we do besides live? No one really knows.
Well, seriously, for me (and everyone is different), I just try to be a good person to everyone I know, treat them as I would like to be treated. I also try to help care for animals and Earth, because they have suffered from human cruelty and destruction. And I try to help people when they need it in whatever way I can.
Also, just to be happy and enjoy life. Try to have fun, for yourself if not for anyone else. Do what makes you happy, whether it's enjoying music, art, sports, reading about history, eating, spending time with your friends, family and pets, etc.
I just love this planet, too, and not knowing where I will be after I die, I'd like to go out hiking in wilderness areas and nature preserves as much as I can.
Overall, it's what you make it. I hope you have fun and find out what's right for you.
