Tenant notices a leaking ceiling in the garage and notifies landlord. Landlord explains that the air conditioning is improperly vented causing the leak and that he will eventually fix it. Tenant asks if ceiling will fall and landlord says no. Tenant parks brand new, 45K car under the leak and the ceiling falls on it causing a 7 inch long dent and scratching. Tenant notifies landlord of fallen ceiling and damaged car. Landlord says he shouldn't have to pay because damage isn't significant and tenant parked under a ceiling that was leaking. Tenant reminds landlord of the previous conversation and he says he told tenant NOT to park there. He then offers to split the cost.

Who's at fault and who should pay? Both can afford it, the damage is probably $300. Both feel the other is responsible. Landlord feels tenant was irresponsible for parking there, knowing about the leak. Tenant feels landlord represented condo as new and was told ceiling would be okay.

Thank you for your responses. Lots of different perspectives on rudeness.

One thing I have never understood is that statement "you have to earn respect." What does that mean? I believe you should respect everyone - it has nothing to do with earning.

This might be a stupid question, but I nanny for a 6 year old girl who seems to always be hungry. She isn't fat or anything but I am afraid to give her too much food cause I don't want her to get fat. She is always asking for a snack even after she has eaten her entire lunch. Is is normal for a 6 year old to be eating that much all the time?

I am going to edit a book of 60,000 words, 209 pages, but I'm not sure how much to charge as the client said price is negotiable and this is my first editing job. I don't want to charge too much and ruin chances with future clients, but I don't want to do it for nothing either.

The job includes proof-reading, editing, and giving comments on character development and the overall structure of the novel.

OK well me and my boyfriend (ex)....went out for about a lil over a year and we broke up about a week ago...and I found out yesterday that he cheated on me with more than one girl...and even on my b-day! Why did he tell me he loved me and I meant everything to him, and everything nice you could say? We hung out all the time but some weeks we would just not hear from each other...I always thought he was cheating but I never thought he would do that to me, and I think way to much sometimes...So I didn't think anything of it! But why did he cheat on me? We were so close, I thought, I loved his family and hung out with them all the time and he made me get attached to them and himself...and after a year and after we break up he finally admits to cheating on me the whole time! WHY DID HE DO THIS TO ME?

my boyfriend and i , well ex i think now, havent talked since yesterday after i had hung the phone up on him. we had an argument, i was crying, he tried to call me back several times in the half hour after the fight happened. i changed my voicemail password and havent called him back since yesterday morning when the fight happened. i feel like i ended things with him by saying what i said and hanging up, but after almost 2 years going out i dont want to be immature and want to make sure he realizes my feelings. should i call him to tell him it's over? or wait and see if he gets it that it's over and leave it alone? i am in love with him but working things out i dont think is going to solve the problems we have. ... do i owe it to him to talk to him about things? or owe it to myself that he doesnt care about me obviously and just let him be?

Many responses on here regarding money and level of independence in a marriage tend to agree that its justified to keep someone on a leash. Example: one spouse buys a big ticket item w/out the other's consent. Most relpies automatically say " Put him / her on an allowance." or " Make them pay you back $100 at a time and YOU get to spend it on what you want."

Other questions that deal w/ concerns about a spouse's activities online / at-work / etc... Most replies are "Get net-nanny, have a co-worker check them out for you, tell them they can't hang out with that person anymore, etc..."

Is this REALLY the way most of us act in our marriages? Would you actually follow the "advice" you dole out on this board?

What ever happened to talking w/ your spouse and asking for an honest answer? What ever happened to, "I don't really like this / that, but overall my spouse loves me, the kids, takes care of the home, and comes home to me, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt." ?
