I have heard of people renting bounce houses. I think karaoke is also a fun idea (marry-oke! haha!). Maybe even casino-night, if you won't get in trouble with the law!
If your friends & family are up for something a little more active, you could try a slip-n-slide, or rafting down a (mellow) river to the reception site. Perhaps you could arrange a mini-rodeo, or take the party to your local go-cart track.

Have the Live DJ, play some games.
I went to a wedding once that made everyone do things for prices. For example, they have a quarter taped at the bottom of a random chair. Whoever was sitting under it got a CD. Then they did other ones including tricking people to do things just for a price. (and no price was giving).
It was fun. People were cooperating and having fun in between dancing and eating.

Well you drink and dance and eat..this is a different way to hold a wedding reception but.....
A party I attended recently had one we enjoyed. The hostess asked everyone to write a personal question down on a piece of paper and fold it..she put it into a bowl and passed it around. Then one by one answered the question they had picked out of the bowl. It was an interesting way to strike up conversations and get to know each other.
I liked the question I got which was "when was the last time you were told you are beautiful, explain"

What we are going to do is get a glass bowl for the head table. Every time people go cling cling for a kiss, we are going to pick a couple (mutual friends, parents, grandparents, etc). It might be us, the bride and groom, or it might be someone else. This way it will just be more fun for everyone. Another thing is to have people come up and sing a song with the word "Love" in it instead of the cling cling thing.

I have a friend who wanted to have karaoke at the reception, and call it 'marry-oke'... I thought that was a kind of fun, off beat idea!
