I agree with it.

We don't like to watch our animals suffer, so when they are hurt or terminal and it is inevitable that they are going to die we have the vet come over or we take them to the vet and have them euthanized.

If our parent or sibling is suffering with terminal cancer or has alzheimer's and you know that they would not to want to live or are in a tremendous amount of pain, we make them suffer until they die.

I know myself I would want to be put out of my pain.

In Oregon there is a law that allows a physician to give his patient a lethal dose of medication if the patient puts it in writing that they want it and they have to verbalize it twice. The patient must administer the medication to themselves. They have had this law on the books for quite a while now and it has not been abused.

I think if I ever have a need I will move to Oregon.

I wonder how the pro-life meaning anti abortionist feel on this subject?

If you ever saw anyone you cared for seriously suffering, you would know the answer.

In some illnesses, there comes a point when even the strongest pain medication isn't helping. These people are in misery and begging to die. I think at this point, with their consent, it's more than ok - it's humane.

Well, I know I wouldn't want to be lying around suffering at the near-end of a terminal illness. I'm for it if the illness is terminal and the person was able to consent when they were of sound mind.

If the patient decides this is what they want while of sound mind then it should be allowed. I had to watch my father and sister both suffer extreme pain and suffering with no hope for a cure. They should have been able to end their life with dignity.

I don't know how I feel about it. I'd give my consent to pull the plug if I were terminally ill and there was less than a 25% chance of me living, but I'd never take pills to kill myself like Oregon allows.

The same attitude I have on abortion...
I think it's horrible and no situation could be that bad where I'd even CONSIDER either but... No one knows just how bad things can get until you're in another persons shoes..

It should be legal for those who want it.

This is a very debatable question. Personally, I think it's immoral and unethical. The physician has no right, even if it is what the patient wants. If the patient wants to die, he/she has to determine what he/she needs to do and shouldn't rely on someone else to do it for him/her. It's just wrong.

When the pain is too great and you have a terminal disease, why prolong the suffering.

Staunchly support it - it's the only logical position to take if we truly value our freedoms as individuals.
