Los Angeles

So I will be making the big move to Los Angeles in August, and am starting to look for a place to live. I may only be able to come out there once before I sign a lease, so it sucks being so far away. I am a college student living with my best friend, and we are looking for a place in a safe area of LA close to where we will be going to school, Santa Monica College. Any suggestions?

Is compton a bad neighborhood or is it a regular one?
Is it more dangerous than Brooklyn?

My family and I are moving to the L.A area (Burbank,CA). We've lived in the San Bernardino county, San Diego, and presently San Francisco. I would really appreciate any constructive info about the area. I have one kid in high school, just to add. What I'm really looking for are some basic pros and cons to a place like the L.A area (I've never been there but driven through once before.) Thank you.

Hey everyone, I need to get from San Diego to the LAX airport. I need to know which of the Los Angeles bus terminals are closest to the air port, and if there is a shuttle to the airport. If there's no shuttle, how much should I expect to pay for a taxi? I haven't been to the states in a very long time, so I'm not sure how much prices have gone up.
