I found a great place in MDR and a decent place right next to work. I am wondering if it would be worth the extra commute time to get the MDR apartment. I know the 405 is a nightmare but is it possible to bypass all that traffic by taking local streets (PCH perhaps). The MDR apartment is right by the marina and my work is near Bundy and SM Blvd btw.

What would be good places to live outside of LA? Particularly that are within 1 hour reach of the city (with bad traffic sometimes) and has some trees, decent property, etc.? Is San Diego better?

I'm originally from Los Angeles. Moved to Washington state to be with my boyfriend, but we're moving back to go to school in California. (ITT Tech). There's a campus in Sylmar and another in West Covina. Which one should I attend? I'm looking for a safe area as to not scare my boyfriend so much! They are both about the same distance to where I'd be working, so that's not really a factor. Which one is more entertaining? (More malls/theaters) Which one is the cheaper, rent-wise? Safer?

I'm graduating law school in may and will be moving to SoCal to start my career. I will be practicing environmental law and so will not be one of those wealthy lawyers who can afford a 6 bedroom in Malibu, so I need a little help in finding a place to live. I'm a surfer, so living near the beach is a must. I could settle for a smaller place as long as it is very nice and in a safe/nice neighborhood. I am well aware that SoCal is very expensive and am not expecting a great crib for pocket change. However, I would like to find something in a reasonable price range. So, my desires are (1) close to the beach, (2) west or south of L.A., (3) nice well-built home, (4) nice area, (5) and most importantly good surf. Any suggestions.

I live in a crowded area of Southern California. Sometimes I'd like to just pack up and move to the mountains, say...Idyllwild, Arrowhead, or Big Bear? Anyone that lives in the California mountains, can you give me some pros and cons of living in the mountains? Appreciate it!
