heres my suggestion its fun too
from the Fullerton amtrak/Metrolink station
take a Metrolink train to Los Angeles
then when you arrive at Union station, head for the Red Line
(Metro's Subway) then you board the Red Line
make sure the train says "No Hollywood"
and that train will take to Hollywood
some of the stops it makes in Hollywood
are of course Hollywood and Vine and Hollywood and Highland.
and the good think about this trip that your metrolink tickeet
is accpected as fare payment on the RedLine.

cost for a round trip weekday is $10.00; weekend $8.00
further discounts for senior/disable and youth
the only problem is that Metrolink only departs (weekdays Fullerton in the Morning 9:02am to Los Angeles, after that the
next metrolink train is around 3:00pm
last train to back to Fullerton is at 6:30pm
weekend schedule is 10:00a to Los Angeles and 8:45pm returning to Fullerton

yes you could also do the same by using Amtrak expect

it would be more expensive and you will have to pay to use the Red Line.$1.25 per trip

I guess it can be done, but the problem is that Southern California really dosen't a good public transportation system. There is no one Transportation Authority with a direct route from Fullerton to Hollywood. May I suggest that you try "www.metro.net". This site lists all the different methods to accomplish this journey, showing all the different routes, times, fares, etc. Good luck.

I'd be surprised if you can find any p.t. for this route. Cars are almost mandatory here.

You could try the MetroRail. Other than Greyhound and a secession of buses, you may be S.O.L.
