My kids learned at Snow Summit and loved it- they have bunny hills, etc., there and a great children's program... If fact, you can sign your kids up and then go off skiing on your own for the day. Then we all ski together for a bit before heading down the mountain.

Have fun!

In Big Bear, Bear Mtn. is probably the more kid-friendly resort as Snow Summit advertising and marketing has for the last several years been aimed at young men... with a particular focus on snowboarders. Snow Summit is a "party" ski resort.

If you want a truly family-friendly ski environment, however, you should head for Mount Baldy. Take the Mountain exit from the 210 Fwy and head up the hill... or from Foothill Boulevard in Upland head up Euclid Ave. and follow the signs. It's about 10 miles up and is a small, friendly ski area with all the services including chair lifts and rope tows and a ski school. They made a lot of improvements over the summer as far as more paths and a snowboarding area. It's a quicker drive with friendlier people and fewer obnoxious young "shredders" cutting in on you while you ski. The rates are cheaper than at any of the Big Bear resorts, too, from lift tickets to rentals. If you want your kids to learn to ski in a fun, safe, and beautiful environment... check out Mount Baldy!

I would say that Snow Summit is more ski friendly. Bear Mountain has actually shifted their focus to snowboarding. Summit has more open runs with no obstacles (jumps, rails, kickers) and the runs are much more open.

definite! Snow element will be right down to 2500 feet, so carry them. and do not ignore to carry about $40 for those adult males to placed them on for you... till you want to crawl round contained in the snow. in case you do not favor to pay them, I pretty propose preparation on your storage or driveway.
