Just take the 5N through the grapevine, and you should start to see snow. We used to just pull over into a small town (I think, Gorman) ...there are sledding hills all over the place...
Also, head past Lancaster towards Snow Summit- there is usually snow before at the park before you get to the ski resort. You can park wherever and play...

Snow season has been dismal so far this year in our local mountains.
You may have to go north, Mammoth, etc.
Or wait. It's supposed to rain later this week.

Mt. Baldy...just about an hour away if traffic is good. 210 E, off at Mountain/Mt. Baldy exit, head north.

nothing is less than an hour away,,just traffic,traffic,traffic,lol...
yeah near the grapevine(depending on rain-turning to snow,but no rain lately?) is a good place, but you will hit traffic coming back,as it is travelled heavily...
