How much money should we bring (per person)? It should be enough to pay for lunch, dinner, snacks, face painting, and a small souvenier (like a $10 thing)

Hi: I will be going to a conference in downtown LA on a Thursday night and plan to catch the last flight home out of LAX airport at 10.20pm. My conference is supposed to end at 8pm and the hotel is right across the street from 7th Street metro / subway station.

I am a single woman--what is the safest, quick, and reliable way to get to LAX for my flight? I will not need to check-in any baggage. Hiring a private limo is not an option for me; nor is renting a car. I have identified two options: (1) Red line metro to Union Station and then take Flyaway bus (trouble is that the bus only departs at 00 and 30 of the hour) or (2) Blue line metro to Green line with transfer at Imperial station (I have read something about rough neighborhoods at this station and the Blue line; don't know if it's still safe at night).

Lastly, how long does it take to walk from the Red line metro stop at Union to the Flyaway bustop? Thanks.

I have met an older woman (IM 24, she is 35) and I want to get out of town with her for this upcoming weekend. I live in Northern County of San Diego, and she lives in Hollywood (Downtown LA.)

I am thinking palm springs or some nicer indian casino/resort in between us off the 15. Anybody have any suggestions. I have only been seeing her since new years, but we are already pretty close.

Keep in mind I am very liberal, vegan, down to earth and bi. I've lived in the LA area for almost ten years, and spent three months in anaheim, but didn't get much of an idea about oc. It seemed cleaner and safer, but more boring and conservative. I don't know if I was there long enough to make a good decision.

I stayed at a hotel / inexpensive resort in Palm Springs a couple years ago. Each 'room' was like an apartment. The one we stayed in had a loft and its own back yard with grill, private swimming pool and jacuzzi. It's off the main strip on a nice chunk of land. Although it had a spa, public pool, tennis courts and (I think) golf course, it was not really a resort because it was reasonably priced and seemed slightly run-down. I want to stay there again but can't remember the name. Just hopeing that this sounds familiar to someone else who has a better memory.
