im going to la to meet up with a friend but hes not gonna be there for a couple of days so any good shopping areas where i can just walk around for the most part of the day or any places where i can just hang out? whats the weather like? ill probably go at the end of this month or the beginning of next..oh and if you know of any good hotels nearby these things let me know

Go to the Santa Monica Promenade-lots of shops, places to eat, movie theaters and it's just a couple blocks walk to the ocean!

The west hollywood/melrose area has many shopping areas and is not far from Beverly Hills. The shopping areas are Melrose, which is a fun,trendy,hip place to walk around with restaurants. The Grove is an outdoor mall with a large farmers market. Nearby is also the Beverly Center which is your basic upscale mall with Macy's and Bloomingdale's. Some nearby hotels that are upscale are the Sofitel and Le Meridian. Some cheaper ones are the Elan and Farmer's Daughter. The weather should be in the 60's-70's usually sunny. Have Fun.

the LA area is very large so it depends on what area you'll be in. Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice Beach are fun for people watching. South Coast Plaza is a large mall in Orange County.

I would recommend shopping at "The Grove" They also have a cool Farmers Market right next door.
It is off Fairfax.
Also, grab a late night dinner at Cantors on Fairfax. This place has been around forever
