I would suggest you look at a couple of sites below. They certainly can help you. The first site is from the Calif. dept. of transportation. The second one is from the weather channel and you might like it better. Enter the Interstate number (5) and you can even put the dates in and it will forecast the weather conditions. Have a safe trip!

Do yahoo weather. According to the channels I watch, the weather in N.Ca is going to be very cold with snow levels down to 1,000 ft. Leave earlier. Beat the storm.. Taking I-5?
