Where can I go to watch Fireworks for New Years in Los Angeles? I've been to Disneyland and Universal City Walk, any place else??

I'm planning to go to Los Angeles for a few days. I have never been there. I'm not going to rent a car, and my budget is too low for taking cabs. Can you tell me what local transportation can I take to go to the most visited area for tourist, such as Rodeo Dr. Universal Studios, Hollywood etc.

I live in New York and I used to take subway and sometimes the bus to visit place around the city.

Can you give me a website where I can see a bus or subway Map & Schedule for LA.

I live near LA and I dont know it very well. I want to do something fun with my boyfriend but dont know where to go. Somewhere we can have a drink or two ,maybe eat, and possibly a room.We dont like clubs cause I cant dance worth a crap and I dont want a cheesy motel. Somewhere cool.

Years ago when I was a kid I went to a subdivision with my family to see the Christmas Lights display. The whole subdivision was light up. You had to park your car and walk the blocks and blocks to see all the houses. I do not know where this was I am trying to find it to take my children. I live in Riverside County the only thing I remember is that it is towards LA off either the 10 or 60 freeway. If anyone knows the name of the subdivision or the location please let me know. Thank you.

We will be going to Disneyland in March and I don't have the money to stay at the Disney resort hotels. I'm looking for inexpensive accomodations but good quality. The web deals are good but I can't find any good info on the hotels themselves.
