You didn't tell that you are going first time LA or you are living in LA. I don't live in LA but i always prefer LA for my vacation. In LA i saw many places where we can live according to us. Definitely go to www.Travelzoo.com,
they will show you the new hotels and the deals on the nice ones.
I have to say that Priceline, sends you out to the Stix but Travelzoo will have As at B prices. or even less.
or.... go to www.Craigslist.org and rent a room out, I would.

Go to Hotels.com. They have a good selection criteria and you can look at all the amenities.
