If you're visiting LA you're in for a treat. It usually rains a lot in the winter but by the time you get here it should be clearing up. Not sure how old you are but there are plenty of really cool clubs in West Hollywood, on the sunset strip. There's also gallery row, if you're into art and poetry. If you want to go shopping, we are basically a mall mecca! Check out the Beverly Center or the Grove for celebrity sitings. We also have really cool (expensive) movie theatres, such as the Arclight in Hollywood. Venice Beach is cool, as is Santa Monica. Plenty of places to do some thrift shopping. If you're going to be here for half a month, you'll have plenty of time to check things out. Like I said, you're in for a treat! But try to stay away from toursty spots like Hollywood and Highland and Universal. Those places can get crowded and everything is more expensive because of the commercialism. Whatever you do, have fun!

The answers so far seem to revolve around theme parks and spending money. There are lots of great trails to hike in the L.A. area. And have you visited the new Griffith Park Observatory yet? I think you still have to use the tram -- the cost is minimal -- and there are trails all over.

Hiking in the San Gabriels is pretty cool, too. Just check the weather report before you head out.

I went to LA with my cousins this March. Our schdule is as follows:

March 23: ride Greyhound from San Diego to LA

March 24: dinner at The Grove, this is a shopping mall where you can ride a trolley around the mall.

March 25: Hollywood , Walk of the Stars

March 26: Knottsberry Farm in Buena Park, there is Asian Buffet just within the vicinity. Good food!

We checked in just across Disneyland and we checked in for 2 days. It was not that expensive.
We just took out food at Panda and ate it in our hotel.

March 27: Disneyland in Anaheim. It is better that you come during the opening especially if you are coming during vacation time. We were there during spring break and everybody came in families. Dont forget to see the parade at night! There is also fireworks. Be prepared to walk and line up the whole day. It is quite tiring. When we went there, it was raining, everybody were buying raincoats!

March 28: California Adventure, which is just across the entrance of Disneyland. You can spend 9am-3pm here. Ride Greyhound to San Diego

March 29: Sea World

March 30: San Diego Zoo

These 2 theme parks in San Diego is quite fun. I was able to breathe more fresh air down here than in LA. Think it over, it is just nearby! It is good to start early since there are timed shows which you will have to watch. If you have to go to these theme parks, buy bottomless drink which is refillable for the whole day! These can also serve as souvenir! There is a discounted ticket if you go to the 3 theme parks including the Wild Animal Park. If you decide on going to San Diego, there is trolley there. You can better picture out San Diego when you ride one. San Diego is so widespread!

After a week, I came back to Orange County, with my other cousins and went to Universal Studios. We stayed overnight at a friends house in Simi Valley.

I had also stayed in another cousins place in Camarillo. There is an outlet store over here. You will pass by Malibu which has spectacular view of the beachside. It is a different ambiance away from the crowded areas of the theme park.

Going to 3-4 theme parks continuously is tiring! I have to rest for 2 days to overcome my tiredness. It was quite tiring lining up the whole day!
