Hi: I will be going to a conference in downtown LA on a Thursday night and plan to catch the last flight home out of LAX airport at 10.20pm. My conference is supposed to end at 8pm and the hotel is right across the street from 7th Street metro / subway station.

I am a single woman--what is the safest, quick, and reliable way to get to LAX for my flight? I will not need to check-in any baggage. Hiring a private limo is not an option for me; nor is renting a car. I have identified two options: (1) Red line metro to Union Station and then take Flyaway bus (trouble is that the bus only departs at 00 and 30 of the hour) or (2) Blue line metro to Green line with transfer at Imperial station (I have read something about rough neighborhoods at this station and the Blue line; don't know if it's still safe at night).

Lastly, how long does it take to walk from the Red line metro stop at Union to the Flyaway bustop? Thanks.

Ok For me your best option would be the FlyAway... I used it for the first time a few months ago. So since you will be near the Red Line take that to Union Station there you will exit and follow the signs That will lead you to the Pattronas Terminal. It's an outside terminal the Flyaway is stationed all the way to the end. the walk from the Red Line to the Flyaway will take you about 5-10mins depending on how fast you walk once you are on the Flyaway it will only be about a 20-30min drive to the airport. Taking the Flyaway is much safer than taking the Green Line even though the Green Line does run shuttles to the Airport.

If you don't want to use a Taxi the best alternative is the FlyAway bus. By the time you did all of the Transfers for the Green Line you would probably already be at LAX using the FlyAway bus.

The Metro Red Line runs about every 15 minutes and it is a very quick ride 5-10 minutes to Union Station. You should be able to get to Union Station by the the 8:30pm or at the latest the 9pm FlyAway bus. That would put you at LAX no later than about 9:30pm. With no checked luggage that should be enough time to get to your flight.

I artwork at LAX and transportation to downtown is amazingly stable. numerous suggestion on the thank you to bypass. The bus, the Metrorail, taxi (maximum costly) and return and forth. once you arrive, on the decrease point in each terminal is a travellers help sales area. bypass seek advice from them and that they'd determine you get on the the main suitable option variety of transportation. once you bypass outdoors and seem overhead you will see distinctive colored signs and indications. Orange is the return and forth, blue sign get on the C return and forth for the buses or the G return and forth for the Metrorail.

Why not take a cab or one of those Airport shuttle services?
