I'm moving (not far) from Long Beach to Glendale (or surrounding areas). I don't know too much about it out there. What areas are decent (and reasonalbly priced) and what areas should I avoid?

There's not much to say about Glendale, it's pretty average. There are a lot of apartments, mostly decent looking, at least from the outside.

You've got your mall, your movie theaters, own police and fire.

Heavily Armenian, not that it matters.

More Beauty Shop per square mile than anywhere else on Earth.

One questionable area, San Fernando Road. Heavily commerical, full of potholes, and I have heard, *gasp* there are prostitutes there!

Glendale is pretty much a very safe city...sure we've got the Armenian mafia...but they pretty much keep to themselves, and there are the occassional gang members lurking around, but believe me....whenever the cops are called for ANYTHING, there are usually SEVERAL cars that show up and they are usually there within MINUTES!! Glendale cops don't have a whole lot to do as compared to L.A. cops. Most areas are nice, and pretty affordable. The rents can really range greatly...some are outrageous, but you can get a decent apt. in a nice neighborhood that you should be able to afford. Yes, San Fernando is a little sketchy, but no big deal. Below (west) Colorado on the South end of town is probably the most undesirable place to live...kind of where the gang members hang out, but still not a terrible area. You might also check out Montrose, La Crescenta, or Pasadena, also all affordable, safe, and nice areas to live.
