Many hotels have an over 21 policy. Many of the hotels my franchisee has employ an over 21 policy because frankly many people aged 18 to 21 are still trying to flex their independence and are not that mature. Some hotels only require 18 as a minimum age as is this one. I try to keep those people close to the office so they can be monitored. The biggest problem with allowing 18 to 21 year olds to stay is under aged drinking but there's not to much of that from out of town under 21 year olds.

Some hotels will require a credit card on file and will make you sign a document if you are between 18 and 21.

The best thing to do is to call hotels in the area you are traveling to and ask them what their age policy is. The bottom line is they don't want to turn business away. Unless there is a huge convention in town and they can pick and choose who they want to rent to if you look mature and present yourself properly you're not going to be turned away.

I got a hotel room by / for myself when I was 18. You will for sure need either a hefty cash damage deposit, or a credit card with a reasonable limit. The hotels use this to protect themselves on the off chance that you cause damage to the room. It's the same for everyone regardless of age.

Even then, there is a chance that some hotels will not give a room to someone who is 18.
