Some of the best schools are in Palos Verdes. They have consistently been awarded a National School of Distinction Award.

Depends on what grade. There are some good programs within the Los Angeles Unified School District. Just go to any school and pick up a Choices brochure.

Taft High School in Woodland Hills wins the Academic Triathelon nearly every year, so parents crawl over each other to live in the district, which means you will pay for it. One of the few good LAUSD schools.

If you cannot afford a private school, then you're best bet is the 'burbs. Thousand Oaks, Santa Clarita, etc.

Every year, The Daily News publishes test scores, etc. Try their website, www.dailynews.com. You can also try The Times, www.latimes.com.

Not all LAUSD schools are bad. Go to LAUSD.net and search for different schools API scores. Ususally if the test scores are high, the school has more money and better teachers. Other districts in Los Angeles County include, Culver City, Inglewood, Long Beach, etc....Google it! As far as suburbs, anything west is pretty much as "suburb" as it gets in the city.

just stay away from the LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District).

The schools there are overcrowded--usually 3-4 thousand per school, even middle schools.

The public schools in the Westside are good though. What kind of schools though? Elementary? Middle School? High School?

I live in Torrance and I've been told the schools here are pretty good.

A lot of it depends on what you can afford, because there is a large range of housing prices in this area. And I'd be willing to bet that the schools are better in the richer areas.

Glendale is largely Armenian, and you will discover no longer purely Armenian grocery shops, yet eating places and church homes, too. The Glendale college district would desire Armenian-conversing instructors. i do no longer understand what different languages you talk, yet all districts desperately desire Spanish-conversing instructors. considering the fact which you have already got a grasp's degree, you will get an "emergency" credential as long as you promise them in a written settlement which you would be persevering with your training and the technique to earn a "clean" credential.. LAUSD continuously has openings. in case you may stay including your individuals till you have a pair of paychecks under your belt, you would be super.

If your serious.. I can refer you to a great real estate agent in L.A. just email me and I can set it up for you.

I work a little east from there but I can recommend a well circulated agent with information on schools and neighborhood statistics.
