the valley is good, but make sure you look into the places before you move. there are some areas which are not very good.

Everywhere in southern California is overpriced when it comes to cost of living. The LA standard of Middle class is expensive by any other comparable western city. That being said the West San Fernando Valley may fit what you are looking for better than most other areas. Northridge, Chatsworth and Granada Hills would be possibilities. Remember also, people regularally commute from far off communities such as Lancaster 75 miles away just to find a one bedroom apartment for less than a thousand a month.

I suggest Burbank. It is not "richy" by any means. It is a separate city, it only has a population of about 100k, but a huge tax base thanks to Disney, Warners, the movie theaters, etc. It's relatively safe, the cops are very bored and looking for trouble.

Most importantly, it is SUPER senior friendly, Loads of senior housing, services, dial-a-ride for doctor visits, etc.

I'm sure there's a wealth of stuff on the web, check it out.

depending what middle class is for you, since the housing market has pretty much out priced the middle class in southern california. If u can afford it i would say probably around the pasadena area, that would be really close to LA. If affordability is a issue i would look inland to the Rancho Cucamonga/Fontana or even high desert area...

West Los Angeles is the best area, Century City or Westwood area. Great Neighborhood, not overcrowded, low crime. Nice people

Leave LA and move her to Nevada or Utah. The climate is better, the air is better, the land is better. Or move inland. but get oughtta LA. Show her a good time in a nice restfull place that isnt screaming sirens every 4 minutes.
Thatis what I would do.

A small house in the gang area is about $450,000. It goes up from there.
