Just made reservations for my 21st birthday (August '08) at Palms. My birthday is on a Sunday and I'm staying through Thursday. Will we still have as much fun during the week compared to the weekends?

That divorce rates in Greece have more than doubled in the last 15 years.
191 divorces per 1,000 marriages in 2002.

That's 20% or 1 in 5 marriages. What is causing all these divorces. In US it's 52%. Meaning HALF the marriages lead in divorce! What is happening to our societtyyyy?? :(

There is an article on YN about Ron Arad that I just read. After it is a comment that disturbs me. It is not the comment in itself that disturbs me, but the fact that I can now see the logic behind it and can agree with it. Am I becoming cynical? I had so many hopes until I lived in E Jerusalem and went to this forum?

A comment reads:

Title: Israelis are Pathetic

Text: Since when is it other countries' responsibility to care about Israelis, especially Germany?

If Israel wasn't filled with lefty cowards, they would just go into Lebanon or Gaza after Arad got kidnapped, take 1,000 arab men and offered a trade. if the arabs wouldn't respond, those 1000 men would be immediately executed. the arabs would quickly lose any interest in attacking jews, when the ratio of kills would become 1/1000.

inhumane? perhaps, but trust you me, it's only force force that will work.

I will be around Union Sq in San Francisco for the night of 4 January 2008 (a Friday). What time do the shops around there close?

Thanks for helping a bewildered Australian.

I'm wondering if it is acceptable to give the Korean children I tutor and their families Christmas gifts? and if I do, will they feel obligated to reciprocate? I was thinking like giving them either a book or DVD, or a Teeshirt with my school name on it.

Is it unreasonable to take an early-morning (8am or so) flight from Oahu to Big Island (Hilo), rent a car at the airport, drive to the volcano crater area and spend a few hours there, then be back to the airport in time for a late evening (8pm or so) flight back to Oahu? I'm going with my family of 5 (including 1 toddler) and am trying to get a volcano/lava view in my trip without breaking the bank. We already have 2 hotel rooms reserved in Honolulu for every night of our trip, so I don't want to pay for another 2 hotel rooms on Big Island. Is this crazy, or doable? Thanks!

I would like to know, from those who have first hand knowledge, which Caribbean Islands are the best to visit for two college girls that want to avoid the normal spring break vacation sites (Mexico). We are looking for activities like snorkeling, horseback riding, water skiing, etc. Also, we want a safe island and we don't want to spend a fortune.

If you have any recommendations for hotels that would be great as well. I need to know what islands to start looking into because I don't know anything about any of them. Language barriers are not a concern.

Personally, I enjoy rudely bumping into Canadians from BC to Nfld and hear them apologize in regional dialects. Mind you, if you think our Marines are tough, try bumping into a soldier of the famed VanDoos (English for vingt-deux, the 22nd Regiment of the Patricia Pats, I think).

Hey. My family is thinking about moving to Ireland, somewhere around Dublin. Does anyone know a good place to move. I will be going to high school there too, so if you have any school suggestions that would help. Thank you very much.
