Travel - 12 July 2007

Deets...m an Indian living / working (with work permit) in Bangkok, Thailand. m planning a weekend trip to Jakarta, Indonesia later this month n bgt tickets for Bangkok-Singapore-Jakarta-Singapore-Bangkok (Singapore being the transit).

Now the question is, umm.. rather the questions are:

(1) Will I get Visa-on--arrival at Jarkarta airport? (Indian National)

(2) If I could get V-O-A, how much is the "sufficent funds" they will be asking for?

(3) and will I get transit visa at singapore? (my flite 2 Jakarta is in the next morning)

(4) Is it possible that I might get stuck at any of these airports coz of not having visa to any of these countries (except bangkok)? :o

If anyone have answers to any of the above questions, I will be grateful. Thanks.

When is the best month to go as far as weather? Which Cruiseliner/ ship is best to travel with? Which places should I make sure are on the list of places to see .....and when we stop what should I visit while on land? Do I need a passport for anything at all? What about rooms, should I get one with a balcony? Is it worth it? What is Inside Passage? Do you know of any website with pictures of the places you will see on an Alaska Cruise? Ok, so my boyfriend from Japan is coming to visit me this August. He bought his ticket some months ago and was not able to reserve his seat ahead of time (dunno why). Now when he called the travel agent, the agent said that all the seats were occupied on the online map, but that he'd be guaranteed a seat at check-in. How is this possible?
This is a flight from Osaka-Kansai to San Francisco. Is he on Stand-by or what? Any experienced airport employees know?
Is it possible they may bump him to business class or something? I just want him to arrive so I can see him...
BTW that's the ONLY flight departing to San Francisco.

so many people keep going on and on in this section about how much they hate Egypt and can't stand it bla bla bla ... yet they continue to live here. If they are Egyptian and have no where else to go, I may be able to understand that. But all those foreigners who can't stand the place, why stay then?! I mean, love it or leave it! If we irritate you so much why don't you just go somewhere else where you'd be more happy? Can you please explain to me why you continue to stay despite all the insults you level at us? I know Egypt is far from perfect. I'm not blind to reality, but there is a clear difference between constructive criticism on the one hand, and hatred filled insults on the other.

I live on the east coast and we usually go to the beach the first or second week of August to Deleware or Maryland. And sometimes to New Jersey.

But for the east coast I was wondering what the best month and week to go to the beach...list weather, water temp, specials at restruants, ect. that would convince me to go that week.

I've been checking out reviews for the value resorts at Disney World, (the three all stars and pop century) and one of the most common complaints is that the walk from some of the farther buildings is a hike. This is understandable but looking at the maps of the resorts they don't seem as huge as people make them out to be. It could be that I'm not one to complain about walking far distances, but are the resorts really that big?

What are some good locales in the Catskill Mountains for a 2-day weekend vacation?
I prefer the place to be VERY WALKABLE, and to have a lake nearby. We would walk from the hotel to the lake.
(Similar to Lake Placid in the Adirondacks)

The people I'm going with don't have a car so we would get there via NYC Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.

A list of applicable locations would be great!
