Beautiful lake area within an hour or so from NYC?

Looking for a beautiful place (lake, park, waterfall, river, etc) within an hour radius of NYC to go on a day trip. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!!!

Lake Hopatcong 60 miles west of NYC by car on route 80
Train is NJ Transit to the Lake Hopatcong Station. Check the njtransit.com web site for train schedules.
Great place a State Park.
Interesting and lots of bars near the lake when you are done.
